EMCC Conference

A Mental Health Awareness Fair

Saturday, July 30, 2022 from 9am – 2pm

Northeast Bible Church 3415 14th Street, Plano, TX 75074

EMCC will host a community-based mental health awareness fair on July 30th in honor of Minority Mental Health Awareness Month at Northeast Bible Church. The awareness fair will consist of FREE brief counseling sessions provided by professional therapists, mental health advocates exhibiting their services, on-site relaxation and expressive art therapy, and individual workshops.

As one of the only predominantly African American counseling centers in the metropolitan Dallas area, the intent is to sponsor such an event for the community focusing on available mental health resources. As we know, mental health has been a very hot topic in the national and local spotlight. Celebrities and sports figures have discussed their mental health and attending therapy is starting to become more common in lesser represented segments (i.e., black males under 45). However, there are many others who are suffering in silence and not knowing where to turn; or, they may be holding on to some misperceptions that prevent them from seeking services.

Event and Attendee Profile

Held annually, the Aware to Care Mental Health Awareness Fair is a one-of-a-kind educational event to spotlight mental health issues among people of color. This conference is for individuals, families, and for mental health providers at every level of professional experience.
